DEADLINE TO REGISTER: BY MIDNIGHT, TWO DAYS BEFORE THE EVENT (FEB. 6) 

Every full moon has a special kind of energy. February is a transitional time with the brisk winds, deep snow, and our patience as we wait for the spring thaw. The essence of the Snow Moon, also called the Hunger Moon is about hope and embracing change.

Grab some snowshoes or hiking boots and join us for a unique hiking experience. We will stop periodically to gaze at the full moon (howling optional) and take in the stillness of winter.

Incorporated into this hike will be an educational component about hiking after dusk and how you can keep yourself safe..  

It is mandatory that everyone carry their own light source whether a head lamp or flashlight. Cell phone flashlights are acceptable but please note that extreme cold can cause cell phone batteries to fail. 

Arrival Time: by 6:30 PM. We will begin the event at 6:50 PM with night hiking safety tips and will depart the trail head by 7:10 PM at the latest.  

Location: We will meet at the Nimowin Trail located in Bird's Hill Provincial Park (park pass is required).

Duration: Approximately 2 km, 1.5 hours. 

Difficulty: Beginner friendly. This activity will be slow and steady with a few stops along the way.

The trail is doable on foot or with snowshoes. Those on foot are recommended to bring gaiters, extra socks and appropriate boots. Snowshoers need to bring their own equipment or bring rented equipment (snowshoe rentals can be found at Wilderness Supply, MEC, Woodcock Cycle) and of course have appropriate footwear.
