DEADLINE TO REGISTER: BY MIDNIGHT, TWO DAYS BEFORE THE EVENT (MARCH 19) 

Grab some snowshoes or hiking boots and join us for a unique hiking experience! We will walk the trails around the site of the old abandoned dam to explore the ruins at Pinawa Dam Provincial Park.

Arrival Time: by 10:30 AM. We will begin the hike no later than 11:00 AM.

Location: We will meet near the entrance to the Pinawa Dam Provincial Park (park pass is required). We can not block the gate when parking - further information will be sent out to participants.

There are no open restrooms on site. Please be sure to follow principles of Leave No Trace.

Duration/Distance: 2 hours of hiking time, with breaks, plus half an hour for lunch. Approximately 2 km actual hiking distance.
Experience: Beginner friendly. You should have the ability to walk with the group at a steady pace for the duration of the activity and come to the activity with appropriate outerwear and layers.
Terrain: The trails will be well packed, however can become uneven and slippery in certain areas with winter conditions. Hiking poles are recommended for traction.
Pace: This activity will be at a steady pace with many opportunities to stop for photos.
Overall Difficulty Rating: due to the factors mentioned above, this activity is rated a 2/5.

The trail is doable on foot or with snowshoes. Snowshoers need to bring their own equipment or bring rented equipment (snowshoe rentals can be found at Wilderness Supply, MEC, Woodcock Cycle, or by emailing Patti who is co-leading the activity).

Please leave dogs at home.

For those wanting to carpool, we will send a link to coordinate this. Drivers should pick an accessible location that works for them along their route; those needing a ride will be expected to meet at one of the driver's preferred location in order to accept the ride.
