Join our Backcountry Women paddle nights with AllStoke (formerly Prairie Paddlers) for an Intro to Paddle Boarding lesson. We provide a fun and relaxing evening on the water with like-minded people! This event focuses on teaching a paddle board lesson and is great for first timers or those looking to learn more and practice their technique. The goal is to get you comfortable on a board.

All equipment is provided. Please read on for full details!

Event leaders: AllStoke. Organized by Ashley Moore.

Arrival Time:
Your lesson will begin promptly at 6:30 PM. To avoid any congestion, arrive no more than 10 minutes early. Please do not be late, otherwise you forfeit your spot.

Upon arrival please wait at your vehicle and attend to organizing your personal gear to prepare yourself for the event to allow the instructors sufficient time to prepare and set up for the event. The instructors will greet you when it's time to begin introductions and lessons.

Thanks for doing your part to help us run a smooth event for all!

Location: We will meet at the boat launch in La Salle. Parking is available on site. Respect any no parking signs.

NOTE: Restrooms are not available at the boat launch; please prepare accordingly.

Participant Expectations:  You are expected to fully participate and show up prepared and on time to learn within a group of like minded individuals from the Backcountry Women community. Participants must be comfortable in water, though we wear mandatory PFD’s & may not actually get wet. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Please bring some water, bug repellent, sunscreen, and wear appropriate clothing for a variety of conditions (such as capris pants, t-shirt/long sleeve shirt, some extra layers). A detailed gear list will be provided in advance of the event.

What is Provided:  All equipment included in the event. Participants receive a pre-trip email with a suggested personal gear list. We provide 2 certified Paddle Canada & Outdoor Council of Canada instructors to facilitate the lesson, an emergency communication device, and medical kit. We also provide the paddle boards, paddles, PFD’s, and Transport Canada approved safety equipment. Essentially, all you do is show up and we’ll be ready to get you on a board!

As a bonus to this event, AllStoke will be offering extra tips and education. The event will begin by going over how to prepare you for your day out on the water. Leaders will go over what you need to pack along with recommended safety tips to help reduce your risk out on the water.

Overall Average Difficulty Rating: due to the factors mentioned below, this activity is rated a 2/5.
This rating is subject to change based on prevailing conditions at the time of the activity, including but not limited to weather.

Duration/Distance: Approximately 1 hour of actual paddling. The lesson begins on land with an introduction to the basics to ensure you feel comfortable before getting on the water.
