We are proceeding (very cautiously!) with certain events going forward. In order to make this work, we will be allowing a small number of participants at each event. We will need your cooperation in only signing up for events you can truly commit to attending. If you miss out on registering please get yourself registered on the waitlist. We also ask for everyone's cooperation and patience as we all adjust! Please see our policy and safety practices here.

DEADLINE TO REGISTER: BY MIDNIGHT, TWO DAYS BEFORE THE EVENT (JUNE 5)

Think Manitoba is flat!? This trail proves it isn't. Join us on Hunt Lake if you're up for a real challenge!

The Hunt Lake trail is one of the most challenging in Manitoba which travels along Hunt Lake, then crosses over to West Hawk Lake. The hike brings you along the lake and climb high ridges overlooking the lake. This is a strenuous hike with lots of steep ups and downs, and lots of roots and rocks and trees to go over or under.

We will hike this trail rain or shine, unless deemed unsafe.

Event leaders: Kerry St George and Jessica Burtnick with Reggie the Siberian husky. Click the links for more information!

There will be a dog accompanying this hike. If you don’t have a dog or puppy friend of your own, this is a great opportunity to experience the joy and benefits of an animal companion! If you are uncomfortable around or allergic to dogs, we highly recommend you check out one of our other upcoming hikes as this hike may not be the right fit for you.

Arrival Time: by 9:00 AM. We will begin the hike no later than 9:30 AM. The time arranged allows for you to have time to attend to personal needs such as organizing your gear and for the leaders to share information with the group.  This trail can be busy and we aim to start before it gets too busy.

LocationWe will meet at the Hunt Lake Trail Head (park pass is required). Note: Google Maps will take you to the wrong location - we will send more information to registered participants with specific directions.

Overall Difficulty Rating: due to the factors mentioned below, this activity is rated a 5/5.

Duration/Distance: Approximately 13 KM return, 6-7 hours with breaks.
Experience: This event is open to participants with a good level of fitness who have intermediate or above level hiking experience and good endurance. You must have the ability to walk with the group at a moderate steady pace for the duration of the activity and come to the activity with appropriate outerwear and gear.
Terrain: The terrain is rugged and includes forested areas, overgrown areas with narrow paths, steep climbs and descents on rock walls, and has a lot roots, rocks and uneven or slippery surfaces. Hiking poles are highly recommended!
Pace: Moderate to fast with some breaks (2.5-3.5 km/h over rocky uneven terrain-- not flat land hiking speed).

Please leave dogs at home.

Further details will be provided to registered participants. Participants are responsible for having a valid e-mail address, communicating with the event organizer regarding any changes in attendance, and for checking e-mail prior to an event.

This event allows cancellation no less than 5 days before start of event. If you are no longer able to attend, please see our No Show Policy.
