PLEASE READ THE REQUIREMENTS AND ALL DETAILS BELOW PRIOR TO REGISTRATION

The Whiteshell River Trail is a rustic trail with varying elevations, steep climbs, and scenic views of the river. There are sections with burnt trees due to forest fires that offer interesting scenery. Although this trail is short, be prepared for an adventure due to the terrain!

We will hike this trail rain or shine, unless deemed unsafe.

Arrival Time: by 9:30 AM. We will begin the hike no later than 10:00 AM. The time arranged allows for you to have time to attend to personal needs such as organizing your gear and for the leaders to share information with the group.


Location: Whiteshell River Trail is located in Whiteshell Provincial Park. Please note that the parking lot shares space with Mantario South Trailhead.

Overall Average Difficulty Rating: due to the factors mentioned below, this activity is rated a 3/5.
This rating is subject to change based on prevailing conditions at the time of the activity, including but not limited to weather.


Duration/DistanceApproximately 3 km (2 hours with breaks included). 

Experience: This event is open to participants with an average level of fitness who have some hiking experience. You must have the ability to walk with the group at a moderate pace for the duration of the activity and come to the activity with appropriate outerwear (including footwear) and gear.

Terrain:  The trail has some steep climbs and descents. Navigation can be difficult due to overgrown spots and fallen trees. Obstacles also include wet, muddy, and slippery sections. 

Pace: Moderate with a breaks as needed.

Please leave dogs at home. The event leaders will have dogs (on leash; a total of 2) with them at this hike. If this is a concern please consider one of our other upcoming hikes instead.

Further details will be provided to registered participants. Participants are responsible for having a valid e-mail address, communicating with the event organizer regarding any changes in attendance, and for checking e-mail prior to an event.

In light of the global pandemic, we are cautiously proceeding, allowing a small number of participants at each event.
