Regarding Covid-19: Due to the numbers placed on gathering restrictions, we need your cooperation in only signing up for events that you can truly commit to attending. 

Masks are mandatory when gathering at the beginning and end of our events. Additionally, we strongly recommend masks be worn during the activity (but are not required as long as physical distance is being maintained) - if group members are closer than 6 feet apart they MUST wear a mask covering their mouth and nose. Please review our full Covid-19 policy and safety practices here

Happy Trails Hikes are about movement, connection, and getting out on to the trails in or around Winnipeg during the week. This series of hikes, happening on select weeknight evenings is open to all levels and is designed to connect with like-minded individuals from the Backcountry Women community.

Arrival Time: by 6:15 PM. We will begin the hike no later than 6:30 PM. The time arranged allows for you to have time to attend to personal needs such as organizing your gear and for the leaders to share information with the group. 


Location: Kildonan Park. This stunning park borders the Red River and is renowned for some of Winnipeg's oldest trees. We will walk on the main trails as well as explore along Lord Selkirk Creek. Meeting location details will be provided to registered participants. 


Backcountry Women acknowledges that this hike will take place on Treaty 1 Territory

Overall Difficulty Rating: due to the factors mentioned below, this activity is rated a 1/5.

This rating is subject to change based on prevailing conditions at the time of the activity, including but not limited to weather.


Duration/Distance: The walk will be up to two hours in length and distance will be approximately 6 KM.

Experience: Have the ability to walk with the group (while physically distancing) at a slow to moderate pace for the duration of the activity and come to the activity with appropriate outerwear and layers. Be comfortable hiking in the dark and have a light source with you to use if / when needed. 
Terrain: Packed limestone, cobblestone, dirt (mud if wet), and asphalt. Trail is suitable for all levels.
Pace: This activity will be at a slow to moderate pace.

Further details will be provided to registered participants. Participants are responsible for having a valid e-mail address, communicating with the event organizer regarding any changes in attendance, and for checking e-mail prior to an event.
