Regarding Covid-19: Due to the numbers placed on gathering restrictions, we need your cooperation in only signing up for events that you can truly commit to attending. 

Masks are mandatory when gathering at the beginning and end of our events. Additionally, we strongly recommend masks be worn during the activity (but are not required as long as physical distance is being maintained) - if group members are closer than 6 feet apart they MUST wear a mask covering their mouth and nose. Please review our full Covid-19 policy and safety practices here.

Join us for a Backcountry Women Adventure Women snowshoe/hike on the Whiteshell River Trail.


The Whiteshell River Trail is a rustic trail with varying elevations, steep climbs, and scenic views of the river. There are sections with burnt trees due to forest fires that offer interesting scenery. Although this trail is short, be prepared for an adventure due to the terrain and snow amounts!


Event Leaders: Ashley Moore and Lara Stregger

Arrival Time: Arrive by 10:00 AM. We will begin the hike no later than 10:30 AM. The time arranged allows for you to attend to personal needs such as organizing your gear and for leaders to share information with the group. 


Location Whiteshell River Trail is located in Whiteshell Provincial Park. Please note that the parking lot shares space with Mantario South Trailhead. valid Manitoba Parks pass is required and can be purchased online.

Overall Difficulty Rating:
 due to the factors mentioned below, this activity is rated a 3/5This rating is subject to change based on prevailing conditions at the time of the activity, including but not limited to weather.

Duration/Distance: 2.7 kms;  (2 hours with breaks included). 
Experience: This event is open to participants with an average level of fitness who have some hiking experience. You must have the ability to walk with the group at a moderate pace for the duration of the activity and come to the activity with appropriate footwear, gear and outerwear.

Terrain: The trail has some steep climbs and descents. Navigation can be difficult due to overgrown spots and fallen trees. Obstacles also include deep and slippery sections. Snowshoes are not required however, highly recommended due to heavy snow amounts. Traction aids such as hiking poles are recommended.

Pace: Moderate with a breaks as needed.

Please keep dogs at home.
