Join us for a Backcountry Women Adventure Women hike exploring another Riparian Forest and historical area of Manitoba along the amazing Red River near Emerson Manitoba via a section of the Crow Wing Trail. This well established trail offers a variety of scenic sites, both natural and human made, and captures some historical references into Manitoba's beginnings. Further route details will be provided closer to the event to registered participants.

Arrival Time: Arrive by 10:00 AMWe will begin the hike no later than 10:30 AM. The time arranged allows for you to attend to personal needs such as organizing your gear and for leaders to share information with the group.

LocationThis adventure starts at the Emerson park and pool area. Exact meeting location will be shared with registered participants.

Overall Difficulty Rating: Due to the factors mentioned below, this activity is rated a 2/5This rating is subject to change based on prevailing conditions at the time of the activity, including but not limited to weather.

 

Duration/Distance: Approximately 10 kms total, however total duration and distance will be adapted to the overall ability of the group participating. Connect with event leader Joanne with any questions or concerns - jkeeping@mymts.net

Experience: This event is open to participants with a beginner to average level of fitness who have some walking experience. You must have the ability to walk with the group at a moderate pace for the duration of the activity and come to the activity with appropriate footwear, gear and outerwear. There can be some wet/muddy areas depending on weather.

Terrain: This area was a part of a river bottom and now follows the bank of the Red River. You can expect there may be mud in some areas, with some small elevation changes and forest deadfall to the sides. Grasses and forest leaves can get slippery with recent precipitation.

Pace: This activity will be at a steady pace with occasional breaks as needed and an opportunity for tea break at Fort Dufferin. 

Please leave your dog(s) at home.
