Join us for a Backcountry Women Adventure Women hike / snowshoe exploring an area of the North Whiteshell around Jessica Lake / White Lake. This hike may explore some lesser known paths! Further route details will be provided closer to the event to registered participants.

Arrival Time: Arrive by 10:00 AM We will begin the hike no later than 10:30 AM. The time arranged allows for you to attend to personal needs such as organizing your gear and for leaders to share information with the group. The finish time is estimated around 2:30 pm, no later than 3pm to allow for travel during daylight hours.
Location: This adventure starts from the Jessica Lake area. Exact meeting location will be shared with registered participants. A valid Manitoba Parks pass is required and can be purchased online.

Overall Difficulty Rating: Due to the factors mentioned below, this activity is rated a 3/5. This rating is subject to change based on prevailing conditions at the time of the activity, including but not limited to weather.



Duration/Distance: Approximately 8-10 kms total, however total duration and distance will be adapted to the overall ability of the group participating. Connect with event leader Joanne with any questions or concerns - jkeeping@mymts.net
Experience: All skill levels welcome. You should have the ability to walk on a snow packed trail and forge a marked trail with snowshoes (if snow is deep enough), with the group at a moderate pace for the duration of the activity. Appropriate footwear and layered clothing is required and poles are optional. There will be opportunities to focus with intention on the natural beauty that flourishes in this part of Manitoba’s Whiteshell Park.
Terrain: Whiteshell terrain during this time of year includes wide open rock faces and roots, rocks and deep snow in forested areas. Expect there may be a variety of trail types from packed snow, single track and deep snow for snowshoes. Elevation changes exist in this region, and rocks can get slippery with recent precipitation and mild temperatures.
Pace: This activity will be at a steady pace with breaks, and a longer break at the halfway mark.
